Her analysis goals to develop novel biocatalysts and sustainable approaches for the synthesis of prescription drugs and value-added industrial compounds. She earned her Ph.D. from the Department of Chemistry on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln after training in chemical biology and biocatalysis in Prof. Jiantao Guo‘s lab. She then transitioned to the University of Kentucky (UK) to check enediyne biosynthesis as a joint postdoc with professors Steven Van Lanen and Jon Thorson.
Dr. Erome Hankore is a Pathway to Faculty Fellow within the Department of Chemistry at Wayne State University. She earned her Ph.D. in chemistry from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she specialized in chemical biology and biocatalysis. Her research centered on genetic code enlargement, the development of biocatalysts for biofuel manufacturing, and kinase dynamics for drug discovery. Dr. Hankore also completed postdoctoral analysis in pure product biosynthesis and protein engineering on the University of Kentucky’s College of Pharmacy. Currently, Dr. Hankore research kinases using a proteomics method, using ATP analogs developed by the Pflum lab to elucidate kinase-substrate interactions in cells. Dr. Hankore’s unbiased lab will give attention to leveraging her experience in chemical biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, biocatalysis, green chemistry, and protein engineering to explore progressive solutions for biotechnology and drug discovery.
